The Girl Who Fell to Earth or Shoot the Archduke!

Written: 1991

Great Eastern Stage

This was originally commissioned by the Traverse to open in the Edinburgh Festival in 1988. Giles Havergal was to direct it; but the only theatre on offer was the Churchhill Theatre, which we both detested. So it had to wait three years for its first production.

The story is based on the chaos surrounding the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand that started the first world war.
