Ain’t it Grand to be bloomin’ well dead

Originally I was commissioned by the Traverse to write a play about Lorca. I struggled with it terribly (this was sometime in the early 90’s) because I wanted to use Lorca’s life story as a way of exploring my own transsexuality.
It turned into a monologue, I think, which the Traverse turned down, and then I managed to expand it again and somehow wrap it around an old music hall song by Leslie Sarony that I remember hearing as a child.
